Speeding semi-truck on New Jersey Turnpike flips, catches fire in Ridgefield Park














NEW JERSEY — An overturned tractor-trailer on the New Jersey Turnpike has caused northbound lanes to close in the area, according to local police.

A crash involving the truck and three other vehicles near exit 70, Degraw Avenue has caused the tractor-trailer to overturn and catch fire, police said around 5:15 a.m.

The fire was out by 6:15 a.m., but the truck was badly charred and blocking all lanes, Air11 showed.

Vehicles stuck on the roadway appeared backed up for miles.

Northbound express lanes at the I-95 are closed near exit 70, where it merges with the I-80.

The incident is expected to significantly impact traffic, and taking the Lincoln or Holland Tunnel may save time.

RIDGEFIELD PARK, New Jersey (WABC) -- A tractor-trailer overturned and caught fire on the New Jersey Turnpike in Ridgefield Park.

The truck overturned onto the northbound roadway just before 4:45 a.m. Wednesday.

The driver was not injured.

Firefighters responded and put out the flames.

Northbound local lanes closed for the investigation.Three other vehicles may have been involved.  It appears the truck was changing directions and failed to negotiate the change in lanes.
