FELTONVILLE (WPVI) -- Police have recovered the vehicle they believe was involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash in the Feltonville section of Philadelphia.

However, they are searching for the person that was behind the wheel.

The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday on the 4800 block of Whitaker Avenue and Loudon Street.

The 58-year-old biker was traveling south when a 2000 GMC Yukon traveling north made a left into the path of the motorcycle.

They collided and the motorcyclist was thrown about thirty feet.

First Responders arrived to find the victim unconscious. He was taken to Einstein Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A witness told police the truck fled west on Loudon Street.

Police responded and quickly found the truck.

Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said, "They saw a trail of what appeared to by anti-freeze and motor oil. The officer followed the trail about five blocks. And he found a GMC with heavy front end damage parked unattended in a rear driveway.

That vehicle was found on the 5000 block of Rorer Street. Both airbags deployed. It did not have a license plate attached.

Police say it's possible it was removed to make it harder to track down the driver.

Debris from the scene matched the Yukon, including a GMC emblem found.

The vehicle is being towed for evidence.

The name of the motorcyclist has not been released.
