One person was killed and at least two others were injured Monday when two pickup trucks collided on U.S. 81 in Republic County.
The Highway Patrol reported Aaron Fischer of Belleville, 88, was killed as he attempted to cross the highway at Lincoln Road, about one mile north of Belleville. A southbound pickup collided with Fischer around 2:40 p.m., making his vehicle roll into a ditch.
The patrol report said two people in the other pickup were taken to Republic County Hospital with injuries, while two others were less seriously hurt.
