MASONVILLE, NY (WBNG) -- One person was air-lifted to Wilson Hospital after a home explosion in Masonville Wednesday night.

According to Delaware Fire Deputy Coordinator Ray Baker, three people and a dog were inside the home when it happened.

Baker said one of them was air lifted to Wilson Hospital and another was treated at the scene for a broken arm. The other person and the dog got out safely.

Baker said the fire started around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and was smoldering through midnight. The home burned to the ground.

One neighbor in the area said he could hear the loud explosion miles away.

"Just about a couple hours ago, I was outside and I heard what sounded like a gunshot," Albert Mason, a Masonville resident said. "Shortly right after that it echoed and within, I would say, literally the fireman, police within about 15, 20 minutes, not even. They started responding quickly, and they all showed up on scene."

The cause of the explosion and fire are still under investigation.
