MARION, Wis. (WBAY) – A head-on crash on State Highway 21 in Waushara County Thursday morning killed a driver from Minnesota.

The sheriff’s office says the Minnesotan’s car was going east on Highway 21 when it crossed the center line near County Road Z in Marion, striking a westbound car head-on. The cars came to rest on opposite sides of the road.

The Minnesotan died right away.

The two people in the westbound car, who were both from Missouri, were transported to a hospital in Neenah. One had serious injuries and had to be removed from the wreckage using the Jaws of Life. The other’s injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Names of the people involved won’t be released until Friday.

Highway 21 was closed for the sheriff’s office and Wisconsin State Patrol to investigate the crash and clear the roadway. Investigators ruled out weather conditions as a factor.

This was the second fatal crash for the county this year.
