PERRYDALE, Ore. - A 3-alarm blaze that destroyed a Perrydale machine shop early Wednesday morning ended up catching a natural gas leak on fire, crews at the scene said.

No one was hurt in the fire, and crews managed to get the fires out by 6 a.m.

Firefigthers were called out to the town located about 10 miles south of Amity, Ore. about 1:30 a.m. on reports of a structure fire.

Amity Fire arrived to find a commercial building on Bethel Road engulfed in flames. The call quickly escalated to a 3-alarm fire, officials said.

The shop, an estimated century-old building used to restore vehicles and farm equipment, is considered a total loss.

Officials said there was a natural gas leak at the building that also caught fire. NW Natural shut off the gas line to put out the fire and repair the leak.

Investigators are still looking into what caused the fire.
