Coast Guard and Ventura County Fire rescue two divers near Anacapa Island, CA

LOS ANGELES — The Coast Guard together with members of Ventura County Air Squad 9 rescued two divers off the west side of Anacapa Island Saturday at 10:55 a.m.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach received a call from the 85-foot commercial dive vessel, Spectre at 10 a.m., stating that a 40-year-old female was unresponsive and foaming at the mouth after coming up from a dive. Shortly after, the same dive vessel reported a 40-year-old male also unresponsive with blood shot eyes after coming up from a dive.

The Coast Guard immediately launched a 45-foot Response Boat — Medium boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Channel Islands and an MH-65D helicopter from Coast Guard Forward Operating Base Point Mugu to assist in the rescue. Members of the Station Channel Islands boatcrew safely transferred the individuals to their vessel. Ventura County Air Squad 9 arrived on scene and hoisted the two individuals from the vessel.

Both divers were taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard.
