Des Moines Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash After Fleeing from Police

DES MOINES, Iowa – A motorcyclist has died after he crashed while fleeing from police on Saturday night.
At approximately 9:45 p.m., a Des Moines Police Department officer tried to stop Vincent Quang, 25, of Des Moines for a traffic violation by the intersection of 14th Street and High Street.
Quang proceeded to pull off the roadway into a store parking lot and indicated he was stopping for the officer. However, he then accelerated quickly out of the parking lot and fled from the traffic stop.
The officer did not pursue Quang immediately and quickly lost sight of him. While searching the area for him, officers were notified of his location by witnesses at the corner of 7th Street and High Street.
Officers found Quang deceased after he had crashed his motorcycle at the location.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
