State Police identify motorcycle driver killed in Gloucester crash

GLOUCESTER COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal accident in Gloucester Monday evening.
The two-vehicle crash happened around 8:44 p.m. on Powhatan Drive and Mission Lane.
Police say preliminary investigation revealed that a Gloucester County Sheriff’s deputy tried to make a traffic stop involving two motorcycles for speeding. A 2009 Kawasaki motorcycle fled from the traffic stop at a high rate of speed down Powhatan Drive.
A 2008 Toyota Camry made a turn onto Powhatan Drive from Mission Lane when it was struck by the motorcycle. The driver, Cregg W. Cartwright, died at the scene.
Troopers are on scene investigating.
