COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Richland County officials have released the name of a man who was electrocuted at a work site last week.

Coroner Gary Watts said in a statement that 36-year-old Javier Lopez-Lira of Concord, North Carolina, died in the incident near Irmo.

Watts said Lopez-Lira was loading asphalt into a road-paving machine from a dump truck when the bed of the truck touched or came close to a power line.

Lopez-Lira was taken to Palmetto Health Richland hospital where he was pronounced dead Friday afternoon.

The coroner's office and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating.
