Eight injured in fiery rollover crash on I-86 in idaho


Eight injured in fiery crash on Interstate 86; two air ambulances called in for wreck that partially blocked interstate for three hours

On Friday, September 11, 2015, at approximately 6:35 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a one-vehicle injury crash on eastbound I-86 at milepost 16, one mile east of the Raft River exit.

A 2005 Saturn Relay was being driven eastbound on I86, when the driver drifted into the left median, over corrected and lost control. 


The vehicle over turned and came to rest on its roof in the left lane. The occupants were able to be removed from the Saturn before it caught on fire and was completely destroyed. 

The vehicle was occupied by eight subjects; their names are not being released at this time. The driver and a passenger were transported by air ambulances to Portneuf Medical Center, in Pocatello. 

The other six passengers were transported by ground ambulance to Cassia Regional Medical Center, in Burley. Six people were wearing seat belts and two were not. Both eastbound lanes were blocked for approximately one hour and ten minutes. 

The left lane was blocked for a total of approximately three hours.


This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
