LifeFleet fine lowered, will make health improvements

NORTH LIMA, Ohio (WKBN) –
A North Lima medical transport company and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration have come to an agreement that lowers a fine against the company and improves worker conditions.
WKBN has learned that LifeFleet will pay OSHA $143,840 in fines. That’s a $91,160 reduction from the original penalty meted out. The two parties got together and worked out a revised agreement.
LifeFleet was put on notice and fined for health-related workplace violations. OSHA cited the company for four willful, seven serious and three other-than-serious health violations after a complaint prompted a February 2015 inspection. Among the infractions, they say ambulance workers were unprotected from blood and other body fluids.
In addition to the OSHA requirements, LifeFleet has agreed to provide individual lockers for each employee and an appropriate supply of clean uniforms so employees can change at work before going home.
LifeFleet will pay its penalty in 16 installments of $8,990 every three months.
