Three people have been taken to the hospital as firefighters continue to battle a blaze at a Marietta apartment complex.

City of Marietta spokeswoman Lindsey Wiles said at about 10:50 a.m. Monday that crews had been on-scene at the Crestmont apartments at 500 Williams Drive for about 30 minutes. Three people were taken to the hospital with “various injuries,” Wiles said, but “none are in serious condition.”

A Cobb County fire spokesman confirmed that his department was assisting city firefighters.

An explosion was reported at a compex at 500 Williams Drive, according to Channel 2.

“The fire department received reports from witnesses stating they heard an explosion,” Wiles said, “but we cannot confirm that until the fire has been extinguished and our crews can perform a thorough investigation of the scene.”

The Cobb County government sent a tweet saying Williams Drive had been shut down, and urged motorists to avoid that road’s intersection with Bells Ferry Road.

No further information was immediately available.
