AUGUST 27, 2015

Two people suffered minor injuries after a fire at a natural gas pipeline near Marsh Island in Louisiana, Boardwalk Pipeline Partners LP said on Thursday.

The U.S. Coast Guard said earlier Thursday they responded to the natural gas pipeline fire, 25 miles south of Marsh Island on Wednesday night.

The 10-inch pipeline belongs to Gulf South Pipeline Co , a wholly owned subsidiary of Boardwalk Pipeline.

The company did not provide a tentative timeline for the pipeline to resume normal operations.

Customers were not affected by the incident, and the cause of the fire will not be disclosed until an investigation is completed, the company said

Petty Officer Ryan Tippets said the rupture caused the pipeline to catch fire. He said the injured crew members were taken to a hospital in Houma.

The Coast Guard says the fire has been extinguished.

Tippets said the Coast Guard received notification of the rupture around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Joe Hollier, Manager of Corporate Communications for Boardwalk Pipeline Partners, said workers were performing maintenance on a 10-inch offshore line of Gulf South Pipeline when it ruptured.

Hollier says the contract workers suffered minor injuries.
