Police ID woman killed in Eaton Co. train crash

UPDATE (4:22 p.m.) – Police have identified the 41-year-old woman who died after a crash with an Eaton Co. train Wednesday. Officials say Catherine Farlee of Lansing was the only person in the car at the time of the accident. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
UPDATE 3:50 P.M.-All roads that were closed during the investigation have been reopened.
UPDATE 1:35 p.m. – The Eaton County Sheriff’s Office says that one woman has died of injuries received in a car-train crash on N. Cochran Hwy just west of Grand Ledge. According to investigators the car was driving north on N. Cochran Hwy and the CSX train was heading east when the car was struck just before 10:30 a.m. today. The woman was alone in the car. The victim’s name is being withheld until her family is notified.
GRAND LEDGE, MICH. (WLNS)– Police are still at the scene of a deadly car and train crash just west of Grand Ledge.
The crash happened Wednesday morning on Cochran Road at the CSX crossing just north of M-43.
In addition to Cochran Road, Wheaton Road is also blocked while the eastbound train is stopped and police investigate.
It is unknown how long the roads will be blocked.
The site of the crash is along a straight stretch of the railway.
The crossing is marked, but does not have flashing lights or gates.
Eaton County and Michigan State Police are at the scene.
6 News has a crew on the scene and will provide additional information as it becomes available.
