Four people were injured, including one man who was airlifted to the hospital, in a three-vehicle crash on Sunrise Highway in Holbrook Tuesday evening.

The accident occurred at about 6:06 p.m. on the westbound side of the highway, just west of Nicolls Road, police said.

Police said a white commercial truck was traveling westbound when the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle and struck a red Mustang that was traveling in the right lane. The commercial truck then struck a silver pickup truck and landed on the pickup truck’s bed.

The driver of the pickup truck was airlifted to Stony Brook University, where he is being treated for serious, but non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The driver of the Mustang, a passenger in the commercial truck, and a passenger in the pickup truck were transported by ground to local hospitals where they are being treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said.
