Eastman Chemical Company reports no injuries after minor fire at the Coal Gas Operations in Kingsport, WV

An equipment failure resulted in a minor fire at Eastman Chemical Company on Thursday, prompting the brief response of units from the Kingsport Fire Department.

According to Betty Payne, director of corporate communications for Eastman, at around 11 a.m. there was an equipment failure in their Coal Gas Operations. 

The failure caused a quick depressurization of a gasifier and a minor fire in the immediate area.
