MAGGIE VALLEY, NC
A worker was killed Friday afternoon in an accident at a construction site in Maggie Valley.
According to a Maggie Valley Police Department spokeswoman, the accident happened at about 12:30 p.m. at 212 Campbell Creek Road. The incident was reported as a building collapse, she said.
Authorities have not released the name of the victim pending notification of family members.
N.C. Department of Labor inspectors were en route to the scene Friday afternoon, department spokesman Neal O’Briant said.
“We will open an inspection and see if there were any violations of occupational safety and health standards,” he said.
