A worker servicing a traffic signal in Stark County's Pike
Township was taken to Aultman Hospital and later died after the bucket on his
truck was hit by a semi on Monday.
Officials say 46-year-old Paul G. Vaughn, of Canfield, was
harnessed inside of an aerial lift that was attached to a Thompson Electric
bucket truck.
The bucket service truck was parked on SR 800 near Westbrook
Street. Vaughn was servicing a traffic signal above the intersection.
The State Highway Patrol says 46-year-old Paul Vaughn of
Canfield was inside the bucket, raised to the signal when the Freightliner semi
driven by a 62-year-old Cleveland man slammed into it while passing through.
The Stark County Coroner's office announced that Vaughn died
in the surgical ICU at Aultman at 5:30PM.
The accident that happened around 10:05 Monday morning on
State Route 800 at Westbrook Street remains under investigation. Speed does not appear to be a factor in the
crash.
