Muskogee Turnpike, OK
A Sallisaw woman was killed and a 7-year-old left in critical condition after their vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer rig Friday on the Muskogee Turnpike in OK.
Mary Patricia Kidd, 64, was driving a 2009 Chevrolet north near mile-marker 51 in Muskogee County with a 12-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy as passengers about 3:30 p.m., according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.
The vehicle lost control on the wet roadway, crossed the median and struck a tractor-trailer driven by Edward Haan, 46, of Weatherford, the report states.  Most likely, the female driver was going too fast for the road conditions, judging from the severity of the crash.
Kidd died at the scene. Both children were taken to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, where the girl was listed as stable. The boy was in critical condition with head and internal injuries, according to the report.
Haan was not injured, the report states.
Heavy rain in the area contributed to slick roadways, which caused the accident, according to the report.
The children were wearing seat belts. It is unknown whether Kidd was, the report states.

Slow down during wet road conditions to save your life.
