A worker was killed in an accident on the Southern Illinois
University at Edwardsville (SIUE) campus Thursday afternoon.
A SIUE spokesperson said crews from Keller Construction were
repaving Stadium Drive around 3:30 p.m., when the incident occurred.
According to the spokesperson, as crews were compacting
gravel for the road, the compacting machine went out of control and struck the
worker. The worker was thrown into a nearby ditch.
The worker was fatally injured. Other details were not
immediately known.
