SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C.

South Carolina Highway Patrol said two men were thrown from their truck and pronounced dead in the double fatal crash in Spartanburg County Tuesday.

Tony Keller with the Highway Patrol said two men in a 1980 Ford truck made an illegal lane change in the westbound lanes of I-26 near mile marker five at 1 p.m, and were struck by a tractor-trailer heading in the same direction.

The Ford truck overturned and ejected the two men from the car. Neither of them was wearing a seat belt and both were pronounced dead on the scene, Keller said.

The driver of the Ford truck was a 59-year-old male from Campobello, and the passenger was a 72-year-old male from Rutherford, N.C, Keller said.

The coroner has not released the names yet.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
