WORKER KILLED AFTER FALLING FROM BUILDING AT CONSTRUCTION SITE IN TORONTO’S FINANCIAL DISTRICT

APRIL 23, 2015

A worker, believed to be in his early 40s, has died following an industrial accident at a construction site in Toronto's Financial District.

The incident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. at 100 Adelaide St., between York and Bay streets.

Police say the man fell from the third floor of a building that is currently under construction and was pronounced dead at the scene after efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

Police would not say whether the man was wearing proper safety equipment.
"The Ministry of Labour is on scene right now, they are conducting their investigation," Sgt. Kevin Hamilton told CP24.

In a statement issued Thursday afternoon, PCL, the construction company in charge of the Adelaide Street project, said they are "fully cooperating" with the investigation into the incident.

"We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends for their loss," the statement said.

"All appropriate authorities have been contacted, including the Ministry of Labour, and the incident is under investigation."

The victim has not yet been identified.
