BELLEFONTAINE, OHIO
A state contractor was critically injured when his vehicle
was rammed in the back by a semitrailer in Bellefontaine.
By mid-afternoon, the area of U.S. 33 and U.S. 68 was only
partially open to traffic after the 10 a.m. crash, according to the Ohio State
Highway Patrol Marysville Post.
Troopers continue to investigate at the scene and the
wreckage was still in the clean up stages at 2:30 p.m.
OSHP states a 2015 Mack tractor-trailer rear-ended a 2007
Isuzu commercial truck that was stopped on westbound U.S. 33 directing traffic
to the left lane.
The Isuzu’s driver was working on contract with the Ohio
Department of Transportation. He was taken by CareFlight and is listed in
critical condition at the OSU Medical Center, according to OSHP.
OSHP identified the semi driver as 58-year-old Kenneth E.
Parker, of Columbus.
It’s unclear whether he was seriously injured.
The Isuzu driver has not been identified.
