FISHING BOAT GROUNDS OFF POINT PLEASANT BEACH IN NEW JERSEY

No injuries were reported after a boat washed up on Point Pleasant Beach Wednesday morning, authorities said.


The U.S. Coast Guard and local authorities are at the beach, according to a Facebook post from Point Pleasant Beach Fire Company #2. The fire company said the fishing boat Capt. Gavin ran around 5 a.m. before washing ashore.


The local Coast Guard office declined to comment on the investigation, saying no information was available at this time.

The Coast Guard is responding to a fishing boat aground Wednesday in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey.

A crew-member aboard the 77-foot fishing boat, Capt. Gavin, homeported in Atlantic City, contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay at approximately 5:15 a.m. reporting the boat ran aground one mile south of Manasquan Inlet.

The three people aboard reported no injuries.

Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet launched a 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew in response to the vessel aground. Station Manasquan Inlet also has a crew on the beach monitoring the situation.

No pollution or damage has been reported.
