SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas
The Coast Guard is investigating to determine a possible connection between the death of a Mexican national and a Coast Guard patrol craft operating in the vicinity of the Brownsville Ship Channel after Brownsville law enforcement discovered the body of a female Friday morning.
A Coast Guard small boat had been operating in the general area the preceding evening. Consistent with normal practice, the Coast Guard is cooperating with local officials to determine the facts and circumstances of potential Coast Guard involvement.
The Cameron County Sheriff’s office is the lead agency for the investigation into the cause of death.
