FRIDAY, APRIL 24, 2015

SWANSEA, MASSACHUSETTS

State police say two people have died and a third person was injured in a fiery single-vehicle crash in Swansea.

Troopers responded to Interstate 195 west near Exit 2 (mile marker 4.3) just after 11 p.m. Thursday to find the vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

Investigators say the car left the road, struck a tree before catching fire.

One occupant, a young man, was out of the vehicle but two others, another young man and a young woman, were deceased inside the vehicle. The surviving victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

The facts and circumstances of the crash, including why the car veered off the roadway, remain under investigation by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and State Police Detective Unit for Bristol County.

Late night, car leaves the road, hits a tree, fire, 2 dead:  barring a medical condition or sleep at the wheel, we “smell” a drunk or drugged person here or high speed.  We will see what the results of the investigation show.
