TWIN FALLS, IDAHO

A passenger in an SUV died early Sunday morning, after the driver lost control of the vehicle on Interstate 84 off-ramp.

According to Idaho State Police, 21-year-old Bruno Gonzalez Vargas was driving east on I-84 when he lost control of his Chevy Blazer on an off-ramp near Twin Falls, exit 173. The SUV rolled, throwing both Gonzalez Vargas and his passenger, 21-year-old Adrian Torres, from the vehicle. The SUV then caught on fire.

Investigators say Torres died at scene. Gonzalez Vargas was taken to a Twin Falls hospital. His condition has not been released.

Neither man was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, police said.
The road was partially blocked for 3.5 hours while police worked to clear the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, although it appears that the driver used excessive speed while making the off-ramp exit.
