OSSINING, NEW YORK
A sinkhole began swallowing four vehicles in a parking lot
in Ossining on Tuesday night, police said.
The sinkhole was discovered in a private lot behind a
building at 25 Croton Ave. around 10 p.m., village police Sgt. Paul Schemmer
said. The lot was apparently built over an old building, Schemmer added.
Croton Avenue near Route 9A was closed for a time but
reopened after officials inspected the site. Barriers were put up to keep
people away from the sinkhole.
