Authorities in Calhoun County say three people were burned
after a methamphetamine explosion and fire.
Deputies were called after the people who had been burned
showed up at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital around 3 p.m. Sunday, according to a
release from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office says 45-year-old man was making meth at
his home in the 1000 block of 9 Mile Road in Burlington Township, northeast of
Union City when the explosion and fire happened. The man, who sustained severe
burns to his hands and face, had to be transferred to Bronson Hospital in
Kalamazoo for further treatment.
Two women — a 42-year-old Battle Creek woman and her
daughter, a 27-year-old from Burlington Township — who were in the room when
the explosion happened were also burned. They sustained wounds to their hands
and legs, were treated and Bronson Battle Creek, and were released.
When deputies got a warrant to search the man’s home, they
found evidence of a meth lab and finished meth product. The man is expected to
face charges for possession of meth and operation of a meth lab.
