SOUTH YARMOUTH, MASS. -

Yarmouth police are searching for the driver of a pickup truck involved in a hit and run crash with a school bus Tuesday morning. According to a Yarmouth police release, the incident occurred around 11 a.m. at the intersection of Forest Road and Winslow Gray Road.

According to Deputy Chief Stephen Xiarhos, officers are searching for the white, male driver of a 2002 light gray GMC 2500 extended Cape pickup truck with a cap of the same color. The license plate on the pickup is 135VM4. The driver was last seen headed south on Forest Road after striking the rear of the bus, police said.

Five children and two adults aboard a Cape Cod Collaborative school bus were taken to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis for evaluation. There were no serious injuries to the children, the driver or the monitor. Everyone on the bus was wearing a seat belt, police said. Students aboard the bus ranged in age from 7 to 16. Police escorted the bus to the hospital following the incident.

The truck is registered to the resident of a home in West Yarmouth, but neither the driver or the truck is at the home. The truck will have front end damage, according to police.

Anyone who sees the pickup or has any information about the driver is asked to call 911 or the Yarmouth Police Department at 508-775-0445 immediately.
