TRACTOR-TRAILER AND PICKUP TRUCK CRASH ON I-64 IN NEWPORT NEWS, VIRGINIA

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A tractor-trailer and pickup
truck crashed on I-64 in Newport News Tuesday afternoon.
Sergeant Michelle Anaya said the crash happened in the
eastbound lanes at mile marker 247, just east of Lee Hall.
The initial investigation indicated a 2005 Dodge pickup
truck was traveling east when it changed lanes to avoid another vehicle
entering the interstate. That’s when the truck hit the front of a 1996
Freightliner tractor-trailer, causing both vehicles to travel into the grass
median.
Anaya said the pickup truck overturned in the median, while
the tractor-trailer drove down the median and came to a stop.
No one was injured.
The westbound lane and eastbound lane closest to the median
were closed, but have since reopened.
