ALLENDALE COUNTY, SC (WFXG) -

Crimestoppers and railroad company CSX are offering a $10,000 reward for information about the cause of a train derailment in Allendale County.

A CSX train traveling from Savannah to Atlanta on Jan. 27 derailed in Martin, S.C. near the Archroma Plant off Chert Quarry Road. The train crashed into parked rail cars, causing hydrochloric acid to spill. Diesel fuel was also spilled when the lead locomotive overturned.

Two CSX employees were injured.

The $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person or people responsible.

"Safety is CSX's first priority and we are committed to assisting in the federal investigation however we can," a spokesperson for CSX said in a statement.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about the cause of the derailment to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC or text TIPSC plus their message to CRIMES (274637).
