The occurrence
On 25 January 2014, TransCanada gas control detected a
pressure drop on the TransCanada Mainline #1 near the town of Otterburne,
Manitoba, approximately 25 km south of Winnipeg.
TransCanada reports that a fireball erupted due to ignition
of sweet natural gas from the line. One residence approximately 0.5 km away was
evacuated; no injuries were reported.
TSB investigators have opened an investigation into the
accident.
