PEDESTRIAN DEATHS ARE ON THE RISE: CHILD KILLED BY WASTE RECYCLING TRUCK IN ALBANY, NEW YORK

ALBANY, N.Y. — 

Central Avenue and Quail in Albany are closed after police say a child was hit by a waste and recycling truck and killed Thursday morning.

Police taped off the entire intersection, also closing down sidewalks as they investigate the scene. Police at the scene tell us a 4-year-old boy was hit, and he was been taken to Albany Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.

Director of Communications for the City School District of Albany, Ron Lesko, confirms that the boy is a pre-K student at Philip J Schuyler Achievement Academy.

Assistant District Attorney and Chief Prosecutor of Albany County’s Vehicular Crimes Unit, Mary Tanner-Richter arrived on the scene, inspecting the truck and making note of surveillance cameras on nearby buildings.
