HOUSTON, TEXAS:
A driver struck utility pole and was ejected from his
vehicle in a crash late Thursday, police said.
The man survived and was taken to the hospital in serious
but stable condition.
The crash happened along the South Sam Houston Parkway at
Telephone Road shortly before midnight Thursday.
Witnesses said the driver was heading westbound on the
tollway's frontage road at a high rate of speed. He skidded sideways and
slammed into a wood pole, splitting it in half.
Authorities said the crash ejected the driver from his
vehicle.
There were no other cars or injuries involved.
