A fire
destroyed an elderly couple's home at Nolan Woods Heights in Morganton early
Thursday morning.
One
resident, a 74-year-old man, woke to sounds of the fire and managed to get
himself and his wife to safety, WSOC-TV reported.
Their dog died in the fire
and their van was destroyed.
The cause and origin investigation is ongoing.
