BELCHERTOWN,
MASSACHUSETTS. (WWLP) –
A student
from the University of Massachusetts was struck and killed by a truck early
this morning in Belchertown.
Belchertown
Police Detective John Reymer told 22news it was just before 2 o’clock this
morning that the 20-year-old man was hit while crossing Route 9, or Federal
Street, in the area of Two Ponds Road.
Detective
Reymer said the man was wearing dark colored clothes.
The man is
from New Jersey and police are trying to contact his family before releasing
his name.
The driver
of the pickup truck is from Belchertown and did stop to help police in the
investigation.
Detectives
are still investigating and haven’t said if the driver will be charged.
