ARSON INVESTIGATION IN MULTIPLE-HOUSE FIRE ON WEST 33RD STREET AND DENISON AVENUE ON CLEVELAND'S WEST SIDE

CLEVELAND, OHIO – 




An arson investigation is underway as firefighters battle a multiple house fire on Cleveland's west side Tuesday morning.




Officials said it happened in the 3800 block of West 33rd Street and Denison Avenue at 8:30 a.m.




Assistant Cleveland Fire Chief said neighbors saw two people running from the area, carrying canvas bags. Officials have K-9 unit to investigate the scene.



Three houses are involved in the fire. Officials said the fire started in the middle house, then spread to neighboring houses.  Based on the intial investigation, it is believed that the fire may have been intentionally set.




Everyone got out safely, according to officials. Two people were rescued from the basement. A woman was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

The cause and origin investigation is ongoing.
