GOODLETTSVILLE, TN

Goodlettsville Police said alcohol appears to be a factor in a two-vehicle crash that killed two people and injured two others on Interstate 65 North in Goodlettsville early Sunday morning.

The crash occurred just north of exit 97 at 1:20 a.m. The interstate reopened just after 6 a.m. Sunday.

Police said a Toyota Tacoma with three occupants clipped a sign on the side of the roadway. The vehicle then traveled across the roadway and the front of the truck struck the inside wall of a bridge over East Cedar Street. The truck came to rest in the roadway and was struck by a Saturn.

Police identified the two occupants in the Toyota Tacoma who were killed in the crash as Bonnie Knowles, 23, of Springfield and Jason Ramsey, 37, of Cottontown. The third occupant in the vehicle, Heather Gooch, 26, of Portland is in intensive care at Skyline Hospital.

The driver of the Saturn, Samuel Richardson, 28, of Greenbrier, was transported to Skyline Hospital where he was admitted.

Police said alcohol appears to be a factor in the accident and the extent will require further investigation. Any criminal charges will be made in consultation with the district attorney's office.
