Firefighters are battling a house fire amid icy temperatures Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The fire broke out in a bedroom of a Park Street home at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday and quickly spread throughout the home, according to a statement from Toms River Police Department Officer Ralph Stucco.
Fire units from Toms River fire companies #1 and #2 responded, as well as from Pleasant Plains, East Dover, Silverton and Island Heights units. The area is closed off by authorities.
Firefighters are dealing with light snowfall and freezing temperatures below 20 degrees, which are causing icing conditions in the area as water flow off the incident gathers on the roadway. Authorities are working with the Toms River Public Works Department to sand and salt the area prior to reopening the surrounding roadways.
