The driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck was uninjured after striking a semi-truck on Monday afternoon. The accident happened at about 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Dart Way and U.S. Highway 77.

“Basically the black truck was southbound here on U.S. Highway 77,” Waxahachie Police Sgt. Rodney Guthrie said. “It evidently didn’t see the red light. It went straight through it and hit the truck.”

The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured in the accident. The pickup truck sustained heavy front-end damage from the accident. Members of the Waxahachie Fire and Police Departments responded to the scene. Firefighters worked to clear the roadway of debris and police officers provided traffic control.

“We got a call of an 18-wheeler and a vehicle underneath the 18-wheeler,” said Capt. Jon Wilson of the Waxahachie Fire Department. “Nobody was hurt. Everyone seems to be OK.”
The accident did cause a slight back up in both the northbound and southbound lanes of traffic on U.S. Highway 77. Once the scene was cleared of debris and the damaged truck removed by a wrecker, firefighters cleared about 3:15 p.m. and returned to the station.
