AN OVERHEATED
WOOD BURNER IS BLAMED FOR STARTING A FIRE THAT DESTROYED A HOME IN WHEATFIELD
TOWNSHIP, INDIANA

An overheated wood burner in the basement is blamed for
starting a fire that destroyed the Robert Heming home at 25 Roberts Place, West
Wheatfield Township, Monday evening.
Tom Baker, chief of the Clyde Volunteer Fire Company,
said flames spread into the first floor and went through the roof of the home.
Heming escaped and no one was hurt, but the home is a total loss, according to
Baker. Firefighters from the Armagh & East Wheatfield Township, Bolivar,
New Florence and Coral-Graceton departments also responded to the alarm.
The Clyde volunteers were called back at 1:19 a.m. today
when the fire rekindled.
