WATERTOWN (WKOW) -- State investigators are working to help local fire crews figure out what caused a house to explode in Watertown Sunday morning.

Watertown Fire Chief Greg Michalek tells 27 News no one was inside the home on River Drive around 7:30 a.m. when it exploded, blowing out part of the house. The house went up in flames after and the roof collapsed.
"Due to the structural damage no one was allowed in the building, so the majority of fighting efforts for the first hour were from the outside," says Michalek. "Once the fire was contained then they were able to make sure the inside was solid enough."

No one can live in the house now. Watertown fire and police, along with the state, are investigating what caused the explosion.
