MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. -- The gas line along Martin Highway is clearly marked, but for the second time in months, construction crews failed to see it.

Crews working to widen the road cut into a 4-inch gas line.  Authorities had to shut down the highway for several hours to make repairs.

"The whole town of Palm City is in an uproar," said Diana Truax who had to sit and wait in traffic.

A similar gas leak last month led to schools being evacuated.

This time around, no evacuations, just roads closed for hours.

Twenty deputies worked the streets to re-route traffic.

Martin County Fire Rescue is tallying up the cost and may send the construction crews or the gas company the bill.  The decision could take several days to make.
