Luis A. Gonzalez, age 36, working for Reliable Van and Storage of Elizabeth, New Jersey, was crushed to death by the rear wheels of a semi-tractor trailer in Greenburgh, NY

This agency is investigating the circumstances of a pedestrian fatality which occurred on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at approximately 11:25 P.M., on Spencer Court near the intersection of Shaw Place in the Town of Greenburgh. 


A 36 year old male was located pinned under a tractor trailer semi owned by Reliable Van and Storage of Elizabeth, New Jersey and pronounced dead at the scene by Greenburgh Police EMS personnel. The male, an employee of the moving company has been identified as: Luis A. Gonzalez, age 36 of 1032 Flora Street, Elizabeth, New Jersey.



The preliminary investigation into this incident disclosed that a 53 ‘semi-trailer was involved in a property damage incident on Shaw Lane. While police were taking a report on scene for the property damage it appeared that the wheels of the semi-trailer vehicle became locked resultant to striking fixed objects off roadway. One of the crew members of the moving crew, Mr. Gonzalez, attempted to manually release the locks on the rear wheels affected. While he was under the semi, the driver moved the vehicle pinning Mr. Gonzalez under the rear wheels of the vehicle.



Greenburgh Detectives Accident Investigation Unit are investigating this case to determine the circumstances cause of the accident. There are no criminal charges pending at this time.

Moving company employee killed by tractor-trailer

GREENBURGH, NY –



A moving company employee is dead after being pinned under a tractor-trailer in the town of Greenburgh. Police say the accident happened on Spencer Court near Shaw Lane on Wednesday morning. The victim is a 36-year-old man who worked for the “Reliable Van and Storage” company in New Jersey. Police say the driver of the moving truck accidentally backed up while the victim was trying to fix the wheels.
