Extensive damage to a home after a boom truck owned and operated by Big Woody’s Tree Service overturned onto the house in Chattanooga, Tennessee

August 16,  2018

A boom truck owned by a tree care company overturned onto a house in Chattanooga, Tennessee while working to remove a tree from the front yard.

The crane was owned and operated by Big Woody’s Tree Service, thankfully no one was injured in the incident, although some significant damage was done to the roof and front façade of the house. A photo we have received suggests that the rear outriggers were not fully extended, but they may well have retracted as the crane tipped.

The boom truck was later recovered by Doug Yates Towing, using a heavy duty long boomed wrecker.

The Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD) responded after a crane fell over onto a residence Wednesday afternoon.

CFD says crews with Big Woody's Tree Service were working on a tree with the crane when it toppled over.

Crews with Doug Yates Towing brought in trucks to bring the crane upright.

The owner of the condo reached out to us Wednesday night, and says her daughter and granddaughter were in the downstairs of the residence at the time. CFD says no one was injured.

Big Woody's Tree Service has had other trouble this week - early Tuesday morning, someone stole $100,000 worth of chainsaws and leaf blowers.
