A 49-year old man died after a personal watercraft flipped Tuesday evening on Lake Butler in Orange County, Florida











WINDERMERE, Fla. - A man died after a personal watercraft flipped Tuesday evening on Lake Butler, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

The incident happened near Park Avenue in Windermere.

Firefighters told News 6 that the man suffered some type of medical episode.

Firefighters said the man was taken to Health Central Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Two other people involved in the accident were not hurt.

49-year-old man was killed Tuesday when the personal watercraft he was riding tipped over and he fell off, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said.

The accident was reported about 7:45 p.m. from a house near Windermere. It apparently happened on Lake Butler.

Three people, including the man who died, were on the watercraft when it tipped and knocked them off as they were turning, the Sheriff’s Office said.

As a relative helped the men right the watercraft, the victim went under the water.

Bystanders helped pull him out and started cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but he was pronounced dead at a hospital.

A cause of death is expected to be determined by an autopsy.


The man’s name was not released.

Orange County Sheriff's officials tell local news outlets that three people were on the watercraft Tuesday night when it tipped, knocking them into the water.


Investigators say a relative was helping them get back onto the watercraft, when the man went under water. He was pulled from the water and bystanders attempted CPR but he was pronounced dead at a hospital.


His name hasn't been released.
