NILES, MI -- A Niles man was killed when a tractor-trailer ran him over while he was moving an empty trailer from the loading dock at Paragon Industries, police say.

The Niles Police Department received a 911 call about 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, reporting the accident at Paragon Industries, 1830 Terminal Road, according to a news release from Chief of Police Jim Millin.

Officers and first responders found Dennis Cobb, 64, of Niles had been run over by the rear wheels of a tractor-trailer.

"Cobb was in the process of moving an empty trailer from the loading dock and while doing so it appears he may have fallen from the cab of the truck and was caught under the rear drive tires of the semi-tractor," police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and the incident remains under investigation, police said.

The Niles Fire Department, Michigan State Police, Berrien County Sheriff's Office, and ambulance personnel assisted Niles police.

Dennis Cobb, 64, of Niles reportedly was ran over by the back tires of the semi tractor. Police say Cobb was moving an empty trailer from the loading dock and likely fell from the cab of the truck. The man died at the scene.

Police say the incident remains under investigation.
