54-year old worker fell from a forklift and died at the Goodwill Industries in Linthicum, MD






LINTHICUM, MD — Anne Arundel County Fire Department officials say a worker died Tuesday afternoon in an accident at Goodwill in Linthicum. The victim fell from a forklift about 2 p.m. at Goodwill Industries, 800 Central Ave. The department said in its blog that witnesses said the employee was operating the forklift when it flipped over and he was pinned under the machine.

Coworkers freed the operator, a man believed to be in his early 50s, from underneath the forklift before firefighters arrived. The patient was declared dead by paramedics.



The Maryland Occupational Safety and Health - Division of Labor and Industry was notified by responders and will investigate the workplace death, the fire department said.

Officials have not released the victim's name.

LINTHICUM, MD - Fire officials say around 2 P.M, on Tuesday (6/20), a person fell out of a forklift while working at the Goodwill Industries in the 800 block of Central Ave.

Fire and EMS crews from the Linthicum fire station responded to the call and confirmed the victim was in cardiac arrest (not breathing with no pulse). It is unknown as to the exact cause of death. Officials did say it is being investigated as an accident. Despite the best efforts of the paramedics the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Maryland Occupational Safety and Health administration was called to the scene due to the nature of the incident. Officials say this is standard practice anytime an injury or death occurs in a business. A second person was evaluated at the scene for breathing problems, but later refused transport to the hospital.

The unidentified victim will be taken to the office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore to determine the exact cause of death.
